July weather in September! It was hot, like unseasonably hot. Colleen and Earl came all the way from Texas to get married in New York with Texas heat but they were troopers and smiled the entire day through!
Colleen and Earl are seriously two of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meet, oh and they are absolutely adorable together! Their ristic style blended so nicely with the nautical theme of Danfords and Colleen’s classic dress! And let me know forget to mention Earl’s on point bow tie!!! Too cute for words!
In Colleen and Earl’s words:
How did you meet?
On a dating app called “Coffee Meets Bagel” We were messaging for a few days via the app, then decided to have brunch and meet one another.
What was your first date like:
We met for brunch at a local Houston restaurant. Conversation came easily and there were a lot of laughs shared. We decided to walk around afterwards to continue to get to know each other. At the end of the date, Earl said he would like to call the next day to set up a second date. Colleen approved.
Tell us about how he proposed:
It was Friday, September 2016
We were in town so Earl could talk to Colleens’ parents about marrying her. During the day we went to the Fire Island Lighthouse for a stroll to pass some time. Earl asked Colleen if we could go to the top and check out the view since it was such a beautiful day. At the top of the lighthouse Earl asked if he could show some pictures to Colleen to add to a photo book they have filled with “first year” pictures. The pictures progressed from Port Jeff Ferry, Colleen’s parents house, The Irish Coffee Pub, a photo-shopped photo of Earl with her parents eating dinner, a blessing from her parents written down approving of their marriage, and a family photo at their house. Near the end of the photos Colleen realized that he had already talked to her parents. This trip wasn’t about him taking them out to dinner… she was getting proposed to! Earl said some things, got down on his knee and proposed. Colleen said YES! We promptly went down to the bottom to take our same day engagement photos. Earl had arranged for a photographer to be there waiting for us.
That evening a surprise family engagement party was held. The nest day we celebrated with our closest friends from NY and CT.
